PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a damping control circuit for an earphone that provides clear sound quality to a reproduced sound when a user listens to music by using the earphone without causing the user to feel tired even for music-listening for a long time. SOLUTION: The damping control circuit 1 for an earphone is connected in series between the earphone and an amplifier, and is provided with first and second resistors 11, 12 connected in series and a capacitor 13 connected in parallel with the second resistor. The resistance of the first resistor 11 is selected to be nearly 1/4 of the resistance of the second resistor 12. Since the impedance of the damping control circuit is properly changed for each sound region of the reproduced sound corresponding to the acoustic characteristic of the external auditory meatus, the harmful vibration of a diaphragm of the earphone caused by the resonance of the external auditory meatus is effectively damped to make the frequency characteristic of an output or the sound pressure of the reproduced sound almost uniform from a low register to a high register.
