<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To miniaturize an SAW tag in a FRID system using SAWs and enable a tag reader to reliably detect its SAW tag. <P>SOLUTION: A memory controller 226 reads bit data to be checked by inspection pulses later received by an antenna 211 among proper data stored in a memory 225, and operates a switch 216, based on the contents thereof. When the switch 216 opens both ends of a reflection electrode 222, this electrode reflects surface acoustic waves excited by a comb electrode 221.
