FIELD: plastic working of metals, namely rolling strips with flat lower surface and variable shaped along length upper surface, possibly for making strip blanks of low-leaf strip springs. ^ SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of forcing cold portion of blank by means of horizontal rolls at effort preventing slip of blank between rolls at tension; applying front tension in such a way that to place lower surface of rolled strip at level of upper generatrix of lower rolling roll; removing main part of widening in horizontal rolls due to applying front tension increased according to program; removing remaining part of widening by rolling-on between vertical smoothing rollers. Strip is made successively during two cycles in automatic single closed technological flow. At first cycle blank is fed to heating furnace, charged into furnace, it is heated along half of its length, discharged out of furnace and fed for rolling. Then one half of strip is rolled and it is transferred to transporting apparatus, cooled until temperature no more than 100C, turned by 180° for further measure cutting of its rear end at basing onto end of non-rolled half of strip. And then strip is fed to second cycle for rolling other half of strip at repeating technological operations of first cycle for further discharging ready spring strip to stacking apparatus. Invention provides increased useful life period of strip springs by 1.5 -2 times. ^ EFFECT: enhanced accuracy of geometry, improved quality strip springs. ^ 3 cl, 4 dwg
