The panel, e.g. for lightweight structures, has two rigid skins (1, 2) and a core (3) of an insulating material. The outer skin (1) is made from a layer of sheet metal (1A) with its outer surface covered with a film or layer of an impact absorbing material (1B). The sheet metal layer is of steel some 400 microns thick, and the impact absorbing layer is between 200 and 2000 microns thick, and preferably 850 microns thick. The panel core (3) is of a honeycomb cellular material, e.g. of cardboard 10 - 300 mm thick, and can be set between two plates or layers (3A, 3B) of a rigid plastic foam.
|
