PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To add and record regarding the status of expedient utilizable additional information about image information concerned, when carrying out data compression of the image information and recording on a recording medium. SOLUTION: In an information on read/write units which are the read/write of record of the compressed image information, the information on at least one decoding reproducing unit, which is to be compressed-coded, using only the image information within the decoding reproducing units concerned, as well as comprising two or more units about the information of decoding reproducing units, consisting of 1 frame (also 1 field) of the image information. Additional information about the information on the decoding reproducing units for two or more units within read/write units regarding the information on read/write units is multiplexed and recorded separated extractably from the compressed image information.
