GATE TYPE SHIFT LEVER DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gate type shift lever device having no hindrance for moving to a parking range of a shift lever, even when the position of a lever following member is deviated from a set position for some reason. SOLUTION: A shift lock member 5 is provided with an engagement part 7 for waiting and engaging the shift lever 2 moving from a reverse range at a corresponding position in front of a parking. A projection 14 is provided on a U-shaped wall 13 for forming a wall of the engagement part 7. The projection 14 is provided with a cam surface 15 to be inclined in a motion direction of the shift lever 2. When the shift lock member 5 is deviated in position, the shift lever 2 is abutted on a side surface of the cam surface 15, is in sliding contact with the cam surface 15 and advances into the engagement part 7.
