An NAT router capable of performing appropriate communication even when an application for writing IP address information in a data part of an IP packet is executed. The NAT router (100) assigns the same address as the public IP address (B) assigned for the router global interface to a computer (400a) connected to the internal network. Moreover, in a local interface, the same address as the public IP address (A) of an upper node IP device (200) and a specified private IP address (X) are assigned. Thus, it is possible to perform appropriate communication even when an IP packet having a public IP address written in the data part is transmitted from an external network to the internal network.
