<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alumina-based refractory for a melting furnace which contains no chromium and has excellent corrosion resistance and thermal-spalling resistance. <P>SOLUTION: The alumina-based refractory has a composition obtained by blending, by weight, 52-92% of alumina-based raw material, 3-28% of one or both kinds of spinel and magnesia, and 5-20% of one or more kinds of alumina-zirconia, zirconia-mullite and mullite. The particle diameters of the spinel and the magnesia are each set to be 0.05-1 mm, and the particle diameters of the alumina-zirconia, the zirconia-mullite and the mullite are each set to be 0.5-3 mm. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
