PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve an animation image display grade without entailing the deterioration in luminance. SOLUTION: A display element 11 is constituted by dividing its display region to first and second display elements 11a and 11b drivable independently from each other in a lining up direction of scanning signal lines, in which the scanning signal lines are lined up in the respective display elements as each other and are scanned. A control circuit 14 controls first and second signal line driving circuits 13a and 13b in such a manner that the scanning signal lines of the respective display elements are sequentially selected in a plurality of periods in one frame and that the respective display elements are repetitively scanned by as much as the number of the plurality of periods during one period. Further, the data of either one of the display data corresponding to the input image signal and the interpolation display data formed based on the input image signal is applied to the signal line driving circuits 13a and 13b in at least one period among the plurality of periods and the other data is applied thereto on at least another one period among the plurality of the periods.
