The method involves separating a cylindrical section from a pipe, and processing the cylindrical section to form the casing (1) of a high-speed clamping cylinder. The functional portions of the clamping cylinder are then inserted into the casing. A prefabricated cap, which is hardened in another processing step, is then screwed to the casing to complete the clamping cylinder. An independent claim is included for the high-speed clamping cylinder.
