PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide polyarylate particles which are prevented from discoloration during molding and further prevented from discoloration even when used under elevated temperatures for a long period of time. SOLUTION: A method for obtaining this polyarylate particle comprises supplying an organic-solvent solution of a polyarylate into hot water heated under atmospheric pressure or vacuum, evaporating the organic solvent to precipitate the polyarylate particle to form a polyarylate-water slurry and then subjecting the slurry to solid-liquid separation.
