PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a battery apparatus with a protective function capable of coping with increase of supply current and capable of securely stopping power supply in abnormal heating of a secondary battery. SOLUTION: A battery group 2 is structured by connecting a plurality of parallel pairs of secondary batteries 1 in series. A current fuse 3 is connected to this battery group 2 in series and a normal open type thermal switch 4 is connected with the series circuit of the battery group 2 and the current fuse 3 in parallel. With a protecting circuit of battery apparatus of the above structure, the normal open type thermal switch 4 detects the heat generation and switches itself to be a switched-on status and a closed circuit is formed with the battery group 2, the current fuse 3 and the normal open type thermal switch 4 when either of the secondary batteries 1 of the battery group 2 abnormally heats up. Hence, the current fuse 3 is melt and cut by short current I running through the closed circuit from the battery group 2 and thus the power supply from each secondary battery 1 is surely stopped.
