PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lead-acid storage battery of which energy density is superior and life-time performance is stable by making extruding amount appropriate of the electrode plate from the upper end in the height direction and the left end and right end in the widthwise direction in order that short circuit of the upper part or side part of the electrode resulting from stretch of positive electrode grid is prevented. SOLUTION: When the extruding amount of the electrode plate from the upper end in the height direction and the left end and right end in the widthwise direction are respectively taken as AA mm, AB mm, and AC mm and the height of the positive electrode plate is taken as D mm in the lead-acid storage battery in which the dimension of the separator is made larger than that of the electrode plate, (AA, AB, AC)≥0.02×D, or in the case that the inner width of the battery case is narrower than the width of the separator, only as for the extruding amount AA mm of the separator in the height direction of the electrode plate, AA≥0.02×D.
