PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a resin coating apparatus which is used for coating an optical fiber with a resin and forms a high-quality resin coating film exhibiting a small variation in diameter of the coated resin and preventing air from mixing into the resin. SOLUTION: This resin coating apparatus for coating the optical fiber 8 has a nipple 3 and a die 5. The nipple under surface 20, which is brought into contact with the coating resin, has a roughness of 0.6μm or less; and the die upper surface 21, which is brought into contact with the coating resin, has a roughness of 0.6μm or less.
