PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal combustion engine capable of performing cylinder reduction operation without specifying a cylinder to be suspended to a specific cylinder in a partial manner in the internal combustion engine having even number of cylinders. SOLUTION: This four-cycle internal combustion engine 1 having eight cylinders to perform cylinder reduction operation when predetermined conditions are satisfied is provided with a combustion control means 9 for performing combustion of the internal combustion engine at an interval of 270°of a crank angle when performing cylinder reduction operation.
