PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve separability of a document bundle in an automatic document feeder. SOLUTION: This automatic document feeder has a document setting part 1 for setting the document bundle 20, a sending-out part 3 for sending out a document from the set document bundle 20, and a paper separating-feeding part 4 for feeding paper to a prescribed position by separating the uppermost document from the other among sent-out documents. A preseparation means 30 is arranged between the document setting part 1 and the paper separating-feeding part 4 for facilitating separation by bending a tip part of the document sent out of the document bundle 20 in the oblique upward direction from the oblique downward direction.
