PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid storage container for accurately detecting the point when the amount of remaining liquid drops below a predetermined amount, and enabling utilizing the liquid to some extent after the drop. SOLUTION: In an ink cartridge for supplying ink from an ink supplying opening 11 to a liquid ejection apparatus (liquid consuming apparatus) by applying pressure to ink of an ink storage reservoir 12' by means of the pressure of pressurized fluid supplied from an air inlet, a detection mechanism 26 is provided. The detection mechanism 26 is connected to a fluid channel connecting between the ink storage reservoir 12' and the supplying opening 11, and disposed in the area blocking out the pressure of the pressurized fluid, and detects a buffer reservoir 13' having a volume variable in accordance with ink flowed in from the ink reservoir and volume variation of the buffer reservoir 13'.
