PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce noise mixing into readout image data and simultaneously improve gradation. SOLUTION: In a process, a line sensor, in which image sensors 13 are arranged in the form of lines to obtain the concentration of pixels as an image signal for every pixel, moves in the sub-scanning direction, and a scanning instructing means 19 scans the line sensor in the scanning direction predetermined times of two or more times in the same position. An adding means 17 adds image data of the predetermined number of times of scanning after A/D conversion every pixel without any size error using the number of bits larger than the number of output bits of the A/D converter 14. A dividing means 18 divides the data after the addition by a divisor which is less than the number of times of scanning using the bits larger than the number of output bits of the A/D converter 14.
