PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a thermal printer in which deterioration of print quality due to heat storage in a thermal head, or the like, is avoided by a convenient method. SOLUTION: The thermal printer outputting an image based on print data comprises an approximate expression calculating section (510) for calculating density variation of the image in the printing direction based on colorimetric data obtained through colorimetry of an outputted image, a section (505) for correcting the print data based on the difference of the print data and the density variation thus calculated, and a print section (506) for outputting print data corrected at the print data correcting section (505).
