PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for driving a plasma display panel are provided to improve the display quality by differently setting the duty ratio of the sustain pulse applied during the sustain period and the sustain pulse period. CONSTITUTION: A method for driving a plasma display panel includes the steps of: differently setting at least one among the sustain pulse width and the pulse period applied to the sustain period in response to the weight value of the sub-field. The sustain pulse is provided with a period(t(i)Sus_cycle, t(j)Sus_cycle), each of the pulse periods is divided into a period(t(i)Sus_ON, t(j)Sus_ON) applied thereto the sustain pulse and a period(t(i)Sus_OFF, t(j)Sus_OFF) not applied thereto the sustain pulse. |
