C., St. Pierre, Chepstow, and LYSAGHT, Ltd., J., Orts Iron Works, Newport, both in Monmouth. Feb. 24, 1931, No. 5789. [Class 78 (i).] In a conveyer particularly adapted for conveying metal sheets &c. through a furnace for heat treatment of the kind comprising a set or sets of stationary bars A and a set or sets of movable bars B, the latter of which are arranged to be oscillated in a vertical direction and also in the direction in which the material is to be conveyed, the bars of the two sets are mutually inclined as viewed in plan, Fig. 3, and both sets preferably are inclined slightly to the direction of travel of the material. Each set of bars is made of heat-resisting alloy, and the bars B are supported by transverse joists C of similar material upon the tops of hollow, water-cooled metal posts D which are reciprocated vertically and horizontally. The joists may be made hollow for the circulation of a cooling liquid. |
