Foam-covered rigid parts are produced by combining sheets of cellular plastic material with a rigid sheet of thermoplastic material by welding or adhesive bonding over the entire surface, softening the resulting composite by heating, and then moulding to the required shape. A method for the production of parts with a rigid framework and a cellular plastic material (I) on at least one side, involves (a) combining a sheet (12, 14) of material (I) and a rigid sheet (10) of thermoplastic material (II) by welding or adhesive bonding over the entire surface to form a composite, (b) softening the composite by heating, (c) moulding to the required shape and (d) cooling in the mould to retain the shape. An independent claim is also included for composite parts as described above.
