PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an audio player which can send an optimized volume level to devices of a poststage including an audio processing device with external input terminals. SOLUTION: In a CD player 10, a volume level and sound quality adjustment such as low frequency band push-up are switched based on a cassette adapter 20 or a headphone 50 to be connected to the external. When the CD player 10 is connected to a cassette tape recorder 30 of a car audio device through the cassette adapter 20, the CD player 10 sends an optimized volume level to the cassette tape recorder device 30 of a poststage including the cassette adapter 20 independently of a setting position of a volume dial of the CD player 10. Also, though low frequency band push-up processing is turned on in the CD player 10, the CD player 10 is turned off forcedly when the CD player 10 is connected to the cassette tape recorder device 30 of the poststage including the cassette adapter 20, and distortion of sound outputted from the car stereo device is prevented.
