The pulse width measuring apparatus comprises a counter circuit having a plurality of bits consisting of an exponent and a mantissa, and a control section including a section for storing an exponent designating value representative of the number of bits of exponent of the counter circuit, and a decoder section for generating a count set signal for rewriting the count of the counter circuit based on an exponent designating value being stored in the exponent storing section when the count of the counter circuit overflows and delivering the count set signal to the counter circuit.
