NEW THERMOSTABLE PROTEIN HAVING PHOSPHOGLYCERIC ACID DEHYDROGENASE ACTIVITY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new thermostable protein having phosphoglyceric acid dehydrogenase activity.

SOLUTION: This protein comprising a specific amino acid sequence has the phosphoglyceric acid dehydrogenase activity. The protein is obtained by cloning a gene estimated to exhibit the thermostable phosphoglyceric acid dehydrogenase activity from a gene sequence of a Sulfolobustokodaii species 7 (JCM10545) which is one species of aerophilic thermoacidophilic crenarchaeon of hyperthermophilic archaebacteria, and then expressing the protein from the cloned product by using Escherichia coil.
