NEW THERMOSTABLE PROTEIN HAVING CYSTATHIONINE-gamma-SYNTHASE ACTIVITY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new thermostable protein having cystathionine-γ-synthase activity.

SOLUTION: This protein comprising an amino acid sequence of sequence number 1 has the cystathionine-γ-synthase activity. The protein is obtained by cloning a gene (sequence number 2) estimated to encode the protein having the cystathionine-γ-synthase activity from a gene sequence of a Sulfolobustokodaii species 7 (JCM10545) which is one species of aerophilic thermoacidophilic crenarchaeon of superthermophilic archaebacteria, and then expressing the protein from the cloned product by using Escherichia coil. An SDS-PAGE photograph of the protein is shown in figure.
