<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light guide plate capable of realizing uniform and high brightness over the whole light exiting surface, being made thinner, realizing sufficient strength and uniformity of brightness, and being substantially used for a large type lighting device, to provide an easy-to-manufacture lighting device using the light guide plate, and to provide a liquid crystal display device equipped with the device as back-light. <P>SOLUTION: In the light guide plate, one or more grooves 11 for light source arrangement are formed on the rear surface 14 of the light emitting surface 13.
