<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To always print corresponding to the throughput of a printer without requiring to newly install a printer driver. <P>SOLUTION: A host device 21 confirms the printing throughput of the printer 31 connected through a bidirectional communication line 30, by decoding a status from a status generating means 34 by a status decoding means 26. The decoded printing throughput is reflected in a conversion condition setting part 24 for setting conditions when converting data by a data converting part 25 of the printer driver 23, and image data 21a is converted into printing data 22a developed in a bit map.
