PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the quality of recording images corresponding to an overlapping recording part of adjacent head modules. SOLUTION: At the time of recording data corresponding to the overlapping recording part of each head module to a recording medium, it is judged whether or not the data can be recorded by either one of two adjacent head modules. When it is judged that recording by either one of the head modules is possible, the data is recorded by the one head module.
