PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording and reproducing device which can quickly inform the users about modes of a recording speed and a reproducing speed, and which attain saving in a display area required for display of each picture map, by displaying each picture map corresponding to the selected output source and the selected record source. SOLUTION: This recording and reproducing device comprises a first output source and a second output source which output information, and a first record source and a second record source which can record information output from the first output source or the second output source. For an output source, selected to output information and a record source selected to record this information in a first display 26, the picture map, corresponding to the selected output source is displayed, including a first predetermined point as a display point, and in a second display 26, the pictorial map corresponding to the selected record source is displayed, including a second predetermined point as a display point.
