<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the learning efficiency of a learner in learning a language such as in hearing an English sentence in the element units and pronouncing the translation corresponding thereto. <P>SOLUTION: Data for learning (STEP 1 to the final STEP) in which an English sentence composed of the elements A to E and the pauses showing the parts between the elements are used. In STEP 1, a pause is inserted between respective elements A to E and at the end, the pause decreases with the STEPS 2, 3, ..., and only the end pause is put at the final STEP. Reproducing operation of teaching material tracks is automatically stopped by detecting a pause. The learner repeats hearing the element units of STEP 1 and inputting (recording) the translation thereof in the state of pause up to the detection of the end. Then, the device continuously reproduces closely squeezing the translated sentences a to e on the training track. Next, learning (hearing units sequentially become longer) of STEP 2, 3 are performed.
