ELECTROLYTIC CELL WITH GAS DIFFUSION CATHODE PLACED THEREIN, AND ITS COOLING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture caustic soda at an appropriate electrolysis temperature controlled by cooling an electrolytic cell with a gas diffusion cathode placed therein which tends to overheat electrolytic cell components. SOLUTION: The electrolytic cell 1A with an anode 21, an ion exchange membrane 2 and the gas diffusion cathode 5 placed therein, has vent holes 22 and 23 of a cooling medium formed, which lead to the outside of the electrolytic cell. The cooling medium such as water and air, flows through the vent holes to remove excessive heat and keep the electrolytic cell at the appropriate electrolysis temperature. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
