PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To precisely detect a rotation angle of a rotor shaft, and to cope with high rotation of a resolver. SOLUTION: An A/D converter 11 A/D-converts a sine wave output and a cosine wave output of the resolver. A microcomputer 12 reads out an angle dataθfrom a data ROM 19 using absolute values of sinθand cosθof the A/D-converted values as addresses to check polarities of the absolute values of the sinθand cosθ, the present position of the rotor of the resolver is determined thereby, and an off-set is added to the read-outθto acquire the final rotation angle of the rotor shaft.
