<p>A pest repellent prepared by adding at least either a 2-(1-hydroxyalkyl)cycloalkanol derivative represented by the general formula (1) or a 2-(1-hydroxyalkyl)cycloalkanone derivative represented by the general formula (2) in a proportion of 0.1-90 wt.%, preferably 3-20 wt.%, based on the total weight of the repellent to the base that is directly or indirectly applied to the human or animal skin: This repellent is free from disagreeable odor and has an excellent repellent effect on pests, such as mosquitoes, and a good persistency of the effect.</p> |
