摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a Raman amplifier capable of easily reducing the frequency deviation of a Raman gain while suppressing the system performance deterioration and to provide an optical transmission system using the Raman amplifier. <P>SOLUTION: This Raman amplifier respectively supplies the first stimulation light arranged in a band in which a signal light wavelength band is shifted to a short wavelength side according to a Raman shift frequency with equal wavelength intervals and the second stimulation light arranged in the bands shorter and longer in wavelength than the wavelength band of the first stimulation light, wherein the wavelength and power are set so as to make the wavelength intervals of the peaks of the Raman gain in the signal light wavelength band to be substantially equal to an amplifying meas to apply Raman amplification to WDM (wavelength division multiplexing) signal light, and reduces the wavelength deviation of the power of the WDM signal light by utilizing a gain equalizer having periodicity corresponding to the peak wavelength intervals of the Raman gain. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
