Tablet for use during the disinfection of contact lenses comprises a core containing a disinfectant-decomposing agent and an outer coating containing a degradable water-soluble colorant. An independent claim is also included for cleaning contact lenses by contacting the lenses with a disinfectant liquid and then adding a tablet as above to color the liquid and decompose the disinfectant, where the colorant degrades in a predetermined time.
