PURPOSE: A method for controlling a reproduction of data of an optical disk is provided to search/reproduce a next VOB(Video Object) when reopening a DVD reproducing operation after switching into a reproducing or recording mode of other recording medium, so that a user does not have to watch an A/V stream of contents from the beginning again. CONSTITUTION: When a DVD is inserted(S10), a microcomputer reads navigation information, and downloads the information(S11). If a user requests a DVD reproducing operation(S12), the microcomputer reproduces/outputs a stored A/V stream(S13). If a mode conversion key for reproducing or recording data is inputted(S14), the microcomputer retrieves/confirms a post command corresponding to the first VOB, additionally sets a flag bit, and differently stores the post command from other navigation information(S15). The microcomputer carries out a data recording operation(S16). If the user requests a data reproducing operation again(S18), the microcomputer searches/reproduces a start recording position of an A/V stream corresponding to a next VOB(S19).
