PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simplified area calculator which can easily calculate a paving area. SOLUTION: The simplified area calculator 1 comprises a distance detecting means 2 which detects the rotation of a wheel 13 and outputs distance pulses as distance information at regular intervals, a direction detecting means 3 which detects magnetism and outputs traveling directions as direction information, and a calculation processing means 4 which calculates an area based on the distance information and direction information obtained by moving the wheel 13 around the periphery of an area to be measured.
