PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten the time required to start reproduction after a reproduction list is selected when reproducing based on the reproduction list on a recording medium. SOLUTION: In the reproducing device for reproducing the recording medium on which reproduction data are recorded, having a storage means for reading and storing information of a reproduction list file, recorded in the recording medium, in which the order for reproducing the data is expressed, and a reproduction processing means for performing the reproduction processing on the basis of the information stored in the storage means, the storage means limits the number of the reproduction list files to be stored to a prescribed number or less, when the number of the reproduction list files existing in the storage medium exceeds the prescribed number. The number of the reproduction list files to be stored by the storage means is limited to the prescribed number, and the time for the reproduction based on the reproduction list is shortened.
