PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light-emitting element superior in light extraction efficiency of which light emitting part has a refractive index higher than that of air. SOLUTION: The light-emitting element has a luminous layer interposed between a pair of electrodes. The luminous layer contains a light emitting material, and composed of a light emitting region having a refractive index higher than the air and a low-refractive index region having a lower refractive index than the light emitting region, and the interface between the light emitting region and the low-refractive index region has at least a part which is not parallel with the interface between the electrode and themselves.
