<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily obtain cooperative relation between video and a musical piece even when video data used for video reproduction accompanying music reproduction are updated or added and so on. <P>SOLUTION: A video file is divided into video property information and MPEG2 video data and the video property information contains a genre code and a plurality of pieces of musical piece specification information. Musical piece specification information is further divided into a music number, a term of validity, and a priority level. When a karaoke musical piece is played, the name of a file of video data having the number of the music to be played as musical piece specification information is retrieved and the retrieved video data are used to display background video. Consequently, even when, for example, only the video data are updated or added, video reproduction based upon the updated or added video data is easily realized as the existent musical piece is reproduced.
