An air capture device (10) for capturing air issuing from grills of air conditioning systems has a pair of rectangular frames (11, 12), a support rod (14) extending between and detachably engaged with the frames (11, 12), an air impervious fabric shell (16) having opposed edges secured to a respective one of the frames (11, 12), and means (22) adapted to secure a measuring instrument to one of the frames (12). A cross member (13) may extend across the centre of each frame (11, 12) and the support rod (14) extend in use between the centres of the two cross members (13). Alternatively, two support rods (41) may extend in use between the frames (11, 12). The cross member (13) at the instrument end (18) of the air capture device (10) extends outwardly of the respective frame (12), and has a positionally adjustable handle (21) attached at each end. The frame (11) at the grill end (17) is of larger area than that (12) at the instrument end (18), whereby the fabric shell (16) converges from the grill end (17) to the instrument end (18). The fabric shell (16) has a convergent section (19) and a constant cross-sectional area over the remainder (20). An insert (29) having vanes (31) to divide the interior of the shell (16) into separate air passageways may be provided. A carrying bag (24) for the air capture device (10) is provided. |
