PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lubricant to be used for a magnetic recording medium which can easily be analyzed before and even after the application of it to a magnetic recording medium. SOLUTION: The ratio of deuterium to hydrogen in a molecule of the lubricant is higher than that of a natural isotope.
