A ring groove (RG) (2) retains a ring seal (RS) (7), which, with the help of a screwed thread (3) with an open side, can be brought closer to the surface of a piece of equipment that mates with a screw element. The RS can be inserted in the RG and is designed to produce a seal between a sealing element and a unit's surface (12). Independent claims are also included for the following: (a) A ring seal for a screw element; (b) and for a gearbox for a motor vehicle or an electric motor with a sealing/locking screw.
