PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrain rattling of a supporting shaft to insert a pair of brackets to support a steering device. SOLUTION: This steering device 1 has an upper part fixing bracket 13 to be fixed on a car body 5 and an upper bracket 15 supported on it through the supporting shaft 14 and fixed on an upper jacket 8 of a steering column 4. The supporting shaft 14 is inserted through supporting holes 21, 17 of side plates 18, 16 of both of the brackets 13, 15. The supporting shaft 14 has a resin made sleeve 24 to be fitted on a shaft member 23 and has a tapered surface 26 to be smaller in diameter on the head end side on an outer periphery 21a of the supporting hole 21 of the upper part fixing bracket 13. The tapered surface 26 runs along an inner periphery 21a of the supporting hole 21 of the upper part fixing bracket 13 with no clearance. Consequently, for example, it is possible to easily fit an inclined part provided on the supporting shaft in the supporting hole from the small diametrical side and possible to make the inclined part run along the supporting hole with no clearance.
