PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultrasonic imaging apparatus and the like which can speedily scan a subject while acquiring required information. SOLUTION: This ultrasonic imaging apparatus includes a probe 10 for ultrasonic wave which forms an ultrasonic beam and transmits it to the subject, and also receives an ultrasonic echo reflected from the subject, an ignition timing controller 20 which performs a scanning for the subject by a set scanning beam density by the ultrasonic beam transmitted from the probe for ultrasonic wave by imparting a delay to a plurality of driving signals fed to the probe for ultrasonic wave, a phase matching operation unit 42 which processes a plurality of detection signals obtained by the receipt of the ultrasonic echo, and thus, acquires a plurality of the detection signals respectively indicating the ultrasonic information along a plurality of scanning beams, a discontinuous region judging unit 43 which judges the continuity of the boundary of a medium existing in the subject based on a plurality of the detection signals acquired by the phase matching operation unit 42, and a scanning controlling unit 44 which sets a second scanning beam density higher than a first scanning beam density in response to the judgement result by the discontinuous region judging unit 43 after setting the first scanning beam density for the fired timing controller.
