PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheathing material for lithium ion battery allowing envelope sticking type packaging, causing no whitening even if an electrolyte sticks to the surface in a packaging process, nor delamination between metallic foil and a sealant layer even in the case of packaging contents including a strong permeable substance. SOLUTION: This sheathing material is a laminate with an anchor coat layer 2, a bonding resin layer 3 and a surface protective layer sequentially laminated on one boehmite treated face of the metallic foil 1 with boehmite treatment applied to both faces, and with an anchor coat layer, a bonding resin layer and sealant layers 5, 6 or an adhesive layer 4 formed of a coat mainly composed of acid-denatured polyolefine, and a sealant layer sequentially laminated on the other boehmite treated face of the metallic foil. The anchor coat layer is composed of an isocyanate compound, the bonding resin layer is formed of mixed resin consisting of metallocene-based straight chain polyethylene resin with a density of 0.92 g/cm<SP>3</SP>or more and low density polyethylene resin, and surface resin layers 7, 8 and the sealant layers are formed of polyolefine-based films of the same material.
