PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a negative electrode for a lithium secondary battery capable of restraining capacity drop due to volume change of an active material as compared with the case using a non-carbonic active material; and to provide a lithium secondary battery capable of restraining capacity drop due to repetition of charge and discharge as compared with the case using a non-carbonic active material by using the negative electrode.

SOLUTION: This negative electrode is characterized by containing: the active material formed of a metal or an alloy capable of storing/releasing at least lithium; a conductive assistant; a conductive assistant reforming agent; and a binder.
