When a plurality of display devices having different image resolution formats are simultaneously connected, it is impossible to simultaneously output image data of different image resolution formats. An OSD-synthesized image decoding device includes: selection means (20) for selecting a plurality of decoding image data; conversion means (40) for converting the selected decoding image data into 1080i; OSD generation means (51) for generating OSD for 1080i to be synchronized with and superimposed on the image data which has been subjected to format conversion; superimposing means (50) for superimposing the OSD for the generated 1080i on the image data which has been subjected to format conversion of 1080i image resolution; conversion means (60, 61) for converting the superimposed 1080i image data into 480p or 480i; switching means (70) for switching between 1080i, 480p, and 480i for each output terminal; and processing means (30) for instructing decoding image data to be decoded to the selection means (20) and instructing switching of the switching means (70) in accordance with the image resolution format of the display device connected externally.
