<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and quickly determine a channel to be truncated out of a plurality of sound production channels in a sound source adopting a system of compressing and storing waveform data in the unit of a frame. <P>SOLUTION: A maximum value which a sound volume envelope characteristic A of waveform data can take in future is given by a characteristic A' shown by an alternate long and short dash line. A sound volume envelope evaluation value ME (CH) is assumed which is approximately equivalent to a value obtained by making the characteristic A' rough in the direction of the time base per frame and making the level rough per prescribed quantization width, and an E flag indicating that the evaluation value ME (CH) should be subtracted by one or be maintained (a value of "1" or "0" added to the characteristic of the evaluation value ME (CH))is stored for each frame. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
